Nationally, fraternities and sororities provide the largest network of volunteers in the U.S., contributing 10 Million hours of volunteer service annually. VCU chapters contribute approximately 6000 service hours and donate more than $15,000 dollars per year. As result of their participation in philanthropic causes and service projects, fraternity men and sorority women are far more likely to volunteer and participate in community service activities after graduation.
During the 2008-2009 Academic Year the Fraternity and Sorority Community at VCU accomplished the following:
- 9496 hours of service donated
- 1.48 tons of food donated
- 221 service programs
- $22,778.77 donated
- 62 non-profit organizations served
